Writing award inscriptions with clarity and restraint

A simple copy hierarchy helps names, honours and company language remain legible on a physical object.

Establish a hierarchy

Choose the single element that matters most—usually the recipient or honour—then let the remaining lines support it instead of competing.

Write for a surface

Short phrases engrave more confidently than dense sentences. Read the copy aloud, remove repeated context and avoid unexplained internal abbreviations.

Approve every character

Names, dates and titles should be checked against the source record by a designated approver. The final proof is the production authority.
